Putin Blames Georgia Conflict on US

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin blames the United States for the conflict in Georgia. In an interview with CNN, Putin says the U.S. encouraged Georgia to attack the breakaway region of South Ossetia because it thought a crisis would benefit a presidential candidate. New York Church Hits the Jackpot

A New York pastor says one of his congregants donated a winning lottery ticket worth $3 million to his church. The pastor said the donor, who asked to remain anonymous, donated the ticket immediately after realizing he won. The church will get a little over $100,000 a year through 2028. The amount could be higher if withheld taxes are refunded because of the church's nonprofit status.

About 100 people were arrested Monday night in Denver after clashing with police about a mile from the Democratic National Convention. Police said the demonstrators disrupted traffic and rushed a police safety line, but one demonstrator said police turned on them with no warning.
